Promoter Announces $40,000 Two-Day Race To Open Season

The 2001 race season will start off with a bang in Scotland County as the Spring Race Rumble will offer a total purse of more than $40,000 to winners in the two-day event scheduled for May 12-13.

Six different race classes will be competing at the Scotland County Raceway in the opening event that will kick-off a new schedule of weekly Saturday night races.

The late model division will pay $4,000 to the winning driver with pay out for 24 places. The A-modified division will garner the second highest prize with $2,000 going to the winner.

The B-modified, stock car, hobby-stocks and two-man cruiser raises will each pay out $1,000 to the first place finisher.

Promoter Ron Anderson stated the prize money is based on a minimum field of 24 cars per class. Any division without at least 24 cars will have a reduced prize schedule.

All preliminary races will be held on Saturday, May 12 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The gates will open at 3:00 p.m.

The main races, including both A and B features will be held on Sunday, May 13, starting at 1:00 p.m. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m.

Tickets for the special event will be $10 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Pit passes will be $30 a day or $50 for both days.

Scotland County Raceway will feature regular Saturday night events beginning May 19. The normal entry fee will be $15 per car with $15 pit passes. Spectator tickets will be $7 for adults and $3 for children.
