Triplett Wins Seat On Rural Water District Board

The polls were anything but busy June 5th as an average of just over five votes per hour were cast on the lone item on the ballot.

Only 51 votes were cast in the election for the governing board of the Scotland County Consolidated Public Water Supply District #1. That represents a 3 percent voter turnout from among the more than 1,500 eligible voters.

Jamie Triplett unseated incumbent Lonnie Sears by a seven-vote margin. Triplett received 29 votes to the 22 cast for Sears.

He will join Bill McBee, Dorsey Swearingen, J.D. Nelson, and Kenny Eggleston on the governing board. The district serves approximately 1,400 customers.
