Two Local Youths Hurt In Crash North Of Granger

A two-car accident at 6:05 p.m. July 1 four miles north of Granger left two Memphis youths with minor injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident occurred at the intersection of two unmarked gravel roads. Richard Nelson, 35, of Arbela was westbound in a 1987 Toyota pickup when it collided with a 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven southbound by Carmen Hamilton, 25, of Queen City. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on.

Tristen Hilpert, four, of Memphis, a passenger in the Nelson truck, sustained minor injuries and was transported by private auto to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

Jonathan Garrett, 16, of Memphis, a passenger in the Hamilton truck, also suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to SCMH.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department. No citations were issued.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The Nelson truck was removed by the owner while the Hamilton truck was towed from the scene.
