Rep. Berkowitz Extends Invitation To Sears Technical Center Dedication

State Rep. Sam Berkowitz, D-Memphis, sends out his personal invitation to all northeast Missouri residents to join him for the dedication of the Jim Sears Northeast Technical Center in Edina on Saturday, October 20th. He noted anyone planning to stay for the dinner following the ceremony needs to make reservations now.

The event will take place at the center, which is located on Highway 6, across from the Knox County High School. It will get underway with the dedication ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Masonic cornerstone laying ceremony at 12:15 p.m. A reservation-only dinner, spon-sored by Moberly Area Community College and Truman State University will follow. Rep. Berkowitz stated the reservation process is important so that those preparing the meal may know how many to plan for.

"The people who are cooking the food for this wonderful event always do such a great job," said. Rep. Berkowitz. "But we need to let them know as soon as possible how much they'll need to cook."

There are a number of ways to make reservations for the dinner. They include filling out the form included with the invitation from Rep. Berkowitz found in this newspaper; or by calling Rep. Berkowitz's Jefferson City office at (573) 751-7985; or by sending an e-mail to his office at sberkowi@services.state.mo.us; or by sending a fax to (573) 522-3722. Reservations must be received by October 12.

Guided tours will take place following the ceremonies.

"Jim Sears was my friend, and a friend to all here in the first district," said Rep. Berkowitz. "This technical center was his dream, and I know many people from all over northeast Missouri will be on hand as we realize this dream on his behalf. I invite everyone to come enjoy the day with us."
