Arbela Teenager Killed In Crash East Of Memphis

A one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Highway 136 east of Memphis claimed the life of an Arbela teenager.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jason M. Rockhold, 18, was driving eastbound on Highway 136 in a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a field entrance and became airborne. It overturned several times, ejecting the driver, before coming to rest on its top in the eastbound ditch.

Rockhold was pronounced dead at the scene by Scotland County Coroner Virginia Monroe.

The accident occurred at 3:45 a.m. approximately six miles east of Memphis. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the accident site by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department and the coroner's office.

Funeral services for Rockhold were held Wednesday, October 24. See page 8 for a complete obituary.
