Memphis Teenager Injured In Crash On Highway 136

A Memphis teenager suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident six miles west of Memphis on Highway 136 at 4:05 p.m. November 2.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Grace Tonn, 17, of Memphis, was westbound on Highway 136 in a 1991 Jeep Wrangler. The Tonn vehicle was attempting to make a left hand turn onto a gravel road when the vehicle behind her, a 1999 Chevrolet T6500 truck attempted to pass the car on the left side and struck the Jeep in the drivers side.

Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the south side of Highway 136.

The Scotland County Rescue squad was at a fire scene in the far east part of the county so a member of the Schuyler County Rescue Squad responded to the scene with the department's jaws of life machine. Tonn was extricated from the vehicle.

She was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

Timothy Fitzwater, 23, of Kansas City, KS, was the driver of the truck. He was uninjured in the accident. Fitzwater was ticketed for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
