Father, Son Killed In One-Car Crash East Of Baring

A father and son from Edina were killed in a one-vehicle accident on Route K four miles east of Baring at 3:45 p.m. December 18.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Richard F. Tarvydas, 27, was westbound on Route K in a 1989 GMC when the vehicle ran off the north side of the roadway and struck a bridge. Following the impact, the vehicle traveled down the embankment and overturned, ejecting a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest on its side.

The passenger, Richard F. Tarvydas, 47, the father of the driver, was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the creek. Both he and his son were pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Alan Rimer.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff's Department, the Knox County Fire and Rescue Squad and the Knox County Ambulance Service.
