ELDON L. "BILL" DALE (11/17/1926 - 6/11/2001)

Eldon L. "Bill" Dale, 74, of Gorin, MO passed away on June 11, 2001 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, where he had been a resident one week.

He was born November 17, 1926 in Milford, MO the son of Chrissie L. and Eva E. Dale.

He married Roberta Ann Huckey, May 19, 1951 in Memphis, MO and to this union seven children were born.

Bill was a 1944 graduate of Hume High School and attended Chillicothe Business School. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Standard Oil, Stevenson Oil and owned and operated Dale Oil Company. Most recently he had been an over the road truck driver and worked for Reichert Trucking of Quincy, IL. He drove a school bus for the Gorin School for 26 years and kept the score clock for basketball games. In his spare time he enjoyed his family and grandchildren, coin collecting and auto racing.

Bill was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of the Rutledge Lodge #572 A.F. & A.M., Rutledge, MO, and VFW Wallace Gillespie Post #4958, and a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Reba Irene; infant daughter, Robyn Ann; and father-in-law, Lloyd Huckey.

Bill was dearly loved and will be missed by those who survive him: his wife, Roberta; four sons, Billie Dale and Tyanne Dale of Quincy, IL, Bob Dale and wife, Kathy of Gorin, MO, Darin Dale and wife, Tammi of Rutledge, MO, Dannie Dale and wife, Joan of Knox City, MO; twin daughters, Teresa Creek and husband, Allen of Memphis, MO, and Tammie Dale of Gorin, MO; 10 grandchildren, Heather Dale and Shane Alvey of Metropolis, IL, Krista Hinton and husband, Ike of Macomb, IL, Brandi and Brandon Dale of Gorin, MO, Aaron and Aimee Dale of Rutledge, MO, Hannah and Lauren Dale of Knox City, MO, Megan and Ashleigh Creek of Memphis, MO; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Davis, Blaise Hinton and MaCayla Dale; his mother-in-law, Hallie Huckey of Kahoka, MO; and brother-in-law, Delbert Huckey and wife, Willie of Kahoka, MO; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Care Center or the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis, MO.

Masonic Services were conducted June 14, 2001, by Rutledge Lodge #572, A.F. & A.M. of Rutledge, MO, with the Honorable Judge Karl DeMarce officiating.

Funeral services were held June 15, 2001 at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Willard Dale officiating. Music was provided by Ann Luther, organist, Elaine Forrester and Angela Westhoff, vocalist. Body bearers were Kirk Huckey, Denis Clatt, Kenny McNamar, Ike Hinton, Shane Alvey, and Tim Frazier. Honorary bearers were Allen Creek, Johnny Erickson and Nelson Golbricht. Interment was in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO.
