KESTHER T. PRUETT (12/27/1915 - 7/1/2001)

Kesther T. Pruett, 85, formerly of Edina, MO, passed away July 1, 2001, at the Fayette Nursing Center at Fayette, MO.

The son of Elijah Lee and Nancy Elizabeth Stough Pruett, he was born December 27, 1915 near Bible Grove, MO.

On March 16, 1940 at Edina, MO he was united in marriage to Doris Elizabeth Raymer and she survives of the home in Canton, MO.

Kesther is also survived by two daughters, Ellen E. and her husband, Larry Gelbach of Canton, MO and Donna and her husband, Joe Gander of Kirksville, MO; five grand-children, Susan and her husband, Randy McReynolds of Canton, MO, Tom and his wife, Debbie Foster of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Mary Mills of Quincy, IL, Terri and her husband, Doug Kriegshauser of Kirksville, MO, and Marianne and her husband, Andrew Romprey of Kirksville, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher Hunolt, Brock and Dustin McReynolds, Samantha Abend, Marissa and Jason Mills, Adam and Scotty Kriegshauser and Ryan Romprey and several nieces and nephews.

Kesther was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bud, Wes and Virgil Pruett; and six sisters, Edith Bachman, Nellie Parton, Ethel Ray, Esther McKinney, Myrtle Miller and Nora Estes.

Mr. Pruett was reared in the Bible Grove and Greensburg communities, attending rural school near Greensburg, MO. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Pruett were engaged in farming east of Edina, MO before moving to town. In 1998 they moved to Canton, MO to make their home. He had worked as a carpenter and house painter and also engaged in trucking. After his retirement he loved to make miniature doll furniture that became more than just a hobby.

Funeral services were held July 3, 2001 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Burial was in the Greensburg Cemetery at Greensburg, MO. Reverend Reese Blaine officiated and music was provided by Paul and Marsha Burton. Casket bearers were Joe Gander, Tom Foster, Randy McReynolds, Harold Bachman, Hershel Bachman, Don Pruett and Larry McKinney. An expression of sympathy in memory of Kesther Pruett may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
