EVELYN L. AUGSBURGER
(7/29/1934 - 8/22/2001)



Evelyn L. Augsburger, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, IA died August 22, 2001 at the Mapleleaf Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held August 25, 2001 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Edward Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the genealogy section of the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

Evelyn was born July 29, 1934 in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Oscar and Hilda Whitaker Kemper.

She was a member of the Wapello High School marching band when the band received their first number one rating in the schools' history in state marching band contest. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1952 and the Burlington Beauty Academy in 1953.

On November 27, 1954, she married Richard "Dick" Augsburger in Wapello, IA. He survives.

Mrs. Augsburger owned and operated the Broadway Beauty Shop in West Burlington, IA. She worked in the accounting department of the F & M Bank of Burlington, IA, National Research in Burlington, IA, and worked as a secretary for the Murray Ironworks in Burlington, IA. Later, she worked for the Naval Department of Sylvania, IRC in Burlington, IA and for Motorola in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, IA and was a member of the James Harlan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her county genealogy memberships included, a charter membership for Louisa County, a lifetime membership for Des Moines County, IA and she was also a member of the Henry County Genealogy Society. She had been very active in the Sunnyside School PTA in Burlington, IA and was a den mother in the Sunnyside Cub Scout Pack. She was a supporter of the Little League and enjoyed collecting antiques. Mrs. Augsburger especially enjoyed spending time with her family and assisting on school trips with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Richard "Dick" Augsburger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one son, Scott (Lisa) Augsburger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two grandchildren, Staci and Ashli Augsburger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one brother, Warren (Shirley) Kemper of Wapello, IA; two nephews, Mark and Tom Kemper; and one niece, Judy Gerst. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Beulah Rewerts of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
