Harold Thomas Slavin, 89, a resident of Palmyra, MO, died November 18, 2001, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL.

Mr. Slavin was born March 7, 1912, in Scotland County, MO, the son of Earl and Ethel McWilliam Slavin.

He graduated from Hall rural school and Downing High School, Downing, MO.

Harold was employed by John Deere Company in the Quad Cities for many years, and owned and operated a small apartment complex in Davenport, IA. After some 50 years in Iowa, he retired to Palmyra, MO in 1995.

Survivors include two brothers, Donald Lee Slavin of Palmyra, MO, and Wayne Mac Slavin of rural Downing, MO; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Marie Slavin and Mary Doss and a brother, Chauncey E. Slavin.

Mr. Slavin was of the Protestant faith.

The family has suggested memorials to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Scotland County, MO, with Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Body bearers will be John C. Slavin, John T. Slavin, Bob Speer, Ralph Small, Al Waddell and Steve Small. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
