Annual Pepsi Tournament Helps Raise Money For Timber Ridge Golf Course

A total of 20 teams participated in the 2001 Pepsi Scramble golf tournament held at Timber Ridge Golf Course May 23. The four-man scramble event got under way at 10:00 a.m. with the golfers completing 18 holes. The proceeds from the event go to the golf course.

The tournament was won by the Fringe Benefit Specialist team of Kirksville consisting of Lee Martin, Derrick Jennings, Kevin Lesczynsk, Jeff Spies.

Second place in the championship flight went to the Firstar Bank team. Team members were Bob Henselman, Tyler Henselman, Sam Western, and Dave Petree.

The Morgan Fertilizer team won a playoff to take home third place. Players on the team were Dean Bolick, Laddie Briscoe, Roger Grant, and Alan.

There was a three-way tie for first place in the A flight. The American Family Insurance team won the tie-breaker, with the closest shot to the pin from the 100-yard marker on hole number four. The team consisted of Chris Harris, Ken Halterman, Randy Barnes and Kevin Small.

The Catfish Place team earned second place. Team members were Wayne Mattingly, Mark Mattingly, Steve Mattingly and Don Fromm.

Bob's Team, consisting of Bob Newman, Dennis Robertson, Dave Shalley, and Jason Harper finished third.

In addition to the tournament play there were also numerous skills contests throughout the afternoon.

A putting tournament, sponsored by Community Bank of Memphis, was held on the practice green. Each golfer got three shots to make the selected putt and advance to the second round. The process was repeated from a different spot in round two, with the finalists advancing to a putt-off. Jack McClain won the contest and the $100 top prize. Kris Lister claimed the $50 prize as runner up.

Hole #4 - Sponsor - L&M Beverage Supply - Closest to Pin on Drive - Pair of KC Chiefs tickets - Mark Wilfawn.

Hole #4 - Sponsor - Mickey Truck Bodies - Longest Putt - Dozen Golf Balls & $60 - Clint Casteel - 42'3".

Hole #5 - Sponsor - Bradshaw Enterprises - Closest to Pin, 2nd Shot - $50 - Chris Holt.

Hole #6 - Sponsor - KYOU Channel 15 - Closest 2nd Shot - $50 - Sam Western.

Hole #7 - Sponsor - KTVO Channel 3 - Closest to Pin on Drive - $50 - Jett Melvin.
