Timber Ridge Holds First Annual Junior Golf Tourney
A total 30 golfers from the Tri-State area took part in the First Annual Timber Ridge Junior's Golf Tournament July 28 in Memphis.
The morning session featured golfers in the 10-11 age group and the 12-13 age group in a nine-hole golf tournament.
Megan Newman won the girls age 10-11 group with a score of 80. Kelsey Sears finished second with a round of 84.
Shaina Schounover of Unionville was the winner of the girls 12-13 year old division as she shot a 49.
Nathan Stock of Queen City was victorious in the boys 10-11 division thanks to a tie-breaker. He edged out Jacob Shipman, also of Queen City, as both boys shot a round of 47. Kiley Watson of Edina won third with a round of 58 and Jeff Kice of Memphis picked up fourth with a round of 65.
The boys 12-13 year old age division featured the largest field of the morning with 13 golfers competing for the top four prizes.
The first place trophy came down to a tie-breaker between Marc Heyland of Ft. Madison, IA, and Joel Klusmeyer of Shelbina as both golfers finished with rounds of 40. Heyland won the card-off as he the better score on hole six to win first.
Matt Stock of Queen City took third place with a score of 42. Chris Oliver of Lancaster was fourth with a score of 44.
The afternoon session had the 14-15 year old division and the 16-17 year old division taking part in an 18-hole tournament.
Corvin Drummond of Memphis won the 14-15 year old division with a score of 81. Chris Edgar was second with a score of 83 followed by Chance Raleigh of Ewing with an 88.
Stephanie Davis of LaPlata was the winner in the girls class with a score of 109.
Kyle Briscoe of Memphis was victorious in the 16-17 age division as he shot a round of two-over par 70.
Brad Fuget of Fort Madison was just one stroke off the pace with a score of 71. Rory McClearn finished third with a score of 74.
The tournament was sponsored by Little Jess Motors, Pepsi-Cola Memphis Bottling, Hinds Realty, Community Bank of Memphis, Morgan Fertilizer, Pizza Hut, State Farm Insurance - Brett Brewer, Farm Bureau Insurance - Greg Shelley, Perrigo's Auto Body and Farmland Co-op.
The tournament work crew consisted of Kirk and Denise Watson, David and Stephanie Shalley, Laddie and Susie Briscoe, Roger and Arlys Grant, Mike and Jeannie Drummond, Roger and Crystal Riebel, Randy Trueblood, Brett Brewer, Bob Schultz, Cole Anderson, Jake Brewer, Mark Drummond, Bob Newman, Kris Lister and Steve Stock.
