Knox County Eagles Knock Off SCR-I 2-1 In Final At Bat

Knox County took advantage of the last at bat, scoring the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Scotland County 2-1 on September 5 in Edina.

The two teams locked in a pitcher's duel through the first three innings.

Scotland County broke through first in the top of the fourth frame. Meagan Fromm reached on an error. She stole second base and came around to score on an RBI ground out by Faith Woods.

The lead stayed at 1-0 until the fifth inning when Knox County tied the game courtesy of a pair of SCR-I errors that allowed the Knox County's ninth place hitter to score without the benefit of a hit or walk.

Knox County put the game away in the seventh inning again thanks to a Scotland County error. The miscue opened the inning and put the runner in scoring position to cross the plate on a Knox County single to end the contest.

Sara Eggleston gave up four hits and walked just one while striking out four in the loss.

She also had a solid performance at the plate going 3-3 with the bat. Brandi Mallett was 1-2 at the plate and Brenna Cook went 1-3.
