Emel Doing His Part In 8-1 Start For CMSU Mules
Just because former SCR-I football standout Aaron Emel is third on the Central Missouri State University depth chart at tailback it has not prevented the CMSU junior from contributing to the Mules 8-1 start to the season.
Emel has carried the ball 32 times for 111 yards. He also has caught one pass for three yards and sees regular duty on special teams where he has made three tackles on the coverage teams. Emel has returned six kickoffs for a total of 73 yards, including a long run of 29 yards.
He ranks eighth on the CMSU squad with 187 yards of total offense, while only trailing Lee Thompson (800 yards) and Kegan Coleman (436 yards) in rushing.
Emel has played in all nine of the Mules games but has had two truly standout performances. On September 6 he rushed for 43 yards on 13 carries to help the mules beat Ottawa (KS). He followed that up a few weeks later with 41 yards on 11 carries against Southwest Baptist in front of the home crowd at Warrensburg. He capped off the performance with a 10-yard touchdown run in the first period of the victory.
The Mules will travel to Kirksville to take on Truman State University Saturday, November 3. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
