Freshmen Boys Beat Highland Twice To Open Hoops Season

If you were feeling a little Déjà vu watching the Scotland County freshman boys basketball team December 3, no one would blame you. For the second time in three days, the Tigers defeated Highland with fourth quarter rallies.

SCR-I defeated Highland in the season opener December 1 in Highland by a score of 39-36. Drew Holt fueled the fourth period comeback with seven points in the final period to help secure the Tigers win. Andy Graham scored six of his game-high 12 points during the rally as well. Jared Shelley finished with 10 points for SCR-I while Carl Wittstock added six and Greg Neagle had four.

Two nights later the Tigers met up with Highland again in the opener of the Knox County Tournament December 3 in Edina. SCR-I once again erased a deficit in the final period to prevail 34-32. Graham led the way with 12 points, all coming in the second half. Neagle had 10 points in the winning effort. Wittstock finished with six while Shelley pitched in with five points.
