Freshman Girls Bring Home Championship Of Knox County Tourney

The Scotland County freshman girls basketball team brought home the championship of the Knox County Tournament held December 3-8 in Edina.

SCR-I opened with the closest contest of the tourney, a 32-30 win over Highland.

Rebecca Consbrock scored 10 points in the opener to lead the Lady Tigers to the win. Ashley Ellison finished with six points, and Kayla Ebeling and Jacqui Drummond both had four points.

A huge third period was the difference in game two as a six point half time lead turned into a 14 point lead on the way to a 41-21 win over Schuyler County.

Ellison led all scorers with 13 points while Megan Walker had 10 points. Consbrock finished with nine points and Ebeling had five.

The host team was the final obstacle in the way of the first place trophy and SCR-I held on to beat the Eagles 36-29 for the title.

Consbrock again topped the scoring for SCR-I with 10 points while Valerie Crawford added nine. Walker finished with seven points and Drummond added six in the win.
