Eric Hunter Green 1st Baby Of 2002 Born At SCMH

Being the first baby of the New Year will be quite a memorable experience for Eric Hunter Green, but it probably still won't hold a candle to the helicopter ride to University Hospital in Columbia.

Green, the first baby born at Scotland County Memorial Hospital in 2002 had to be flown to Columbia for specialized treatment. He remained there approximately two weeks before finally coming home to Memphis.

Eric was born at 5:48 p.m. January 2. He weighed eight pounds and five ounces. His parents are Johanna Duke and William Green of Memphis. Grandparents are Shirley and Stanley Green and Gary Duke and Jane Duke. Great-grandparents are Nettie Duke and Vivian and Lennie Doscher.

As the first baby of the year Eric and his parents will receive several gifts from area merchants. Sponsors for the program included Cook's Mens Store, The Flower Garden, Payne's Funeral Chapel, Raytec, Arlys & Co., SCMH Auxiliary, Farmers Mutual Insurance, Keith's Cafe, Don F. Harrison Insurance Agency, Memphis Farm & Home, Crawford & Associates and Crawford Auto Electric, Allied Insurance - Donna Cook, and Countryside Flowers.

While Green marked a successful start to 2002, SCMH concluded a very eventful 2001 in the O.B. Department. A total of 41 babies were delivered at SCMH last year.
