Illinois Man Cited For DWI Following Accident On 136

An Illinois man walked away uninjured but not unscathed from a one-vehicle accident on Highway 136 mile east of Memphis near the cemetery entrance. The incident occurred at 9:45 p.m. February 1.

Gerald W. Allen, 45, of Prairie City, IL, was not injured when the 1979 Chevy truck he was driving went off the right side of the roadway and went down the embankment before overturning on its side.

Allen was cited for Driving While Intoxicated. He was taken to the Scotland County Jail where he remained on a 12-hour hold. He was assigned a February 11 court date.

The Scotland County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Memphis Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
