Scotland County Man Arrested Following Hit And Run Wreck

Two area residents were injured when the vehicle they were in was struck by a hit and run driver near the Scotland County Memorial Library at 9:06 p.m. April 8.

According to the Memphis Police Department Heather White of Bloomfield, IA, was driving a 1994 Honda Civic westbound on Madison Street. The car was struck in the passenger side by a red Dodge truck that ran the stop sign at Cecil and Madison Street. The impact of the collision forced White's vehicle off the road where it came to rest on the northeast corner of the Madison and Cecil intersection. The Dodge truck then left the scene.

White and a passenger in the vehicle, Matt Small of Memphis, traveled on foot to the Casey's General Store where the store attendant called an ambulance and notified the police department.

Both individuals were transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital. Small was treated and released while White was kept overnight for treatment.

The driver of the Dodge truck was later identified as Randy Robinson of Memphis. He was brought to the Scotland County Sheriff's Department at 2:00 a.m. April 9 by members of his family. He was placed into custody for leaving the scene of an injury-accident.

Robinson was released later that morning and was issued tickets for leaving the scene of an accident, careless and imprudent driving and a stop sign violation.

The investigation was handled by the Memphis Police Depart-ment and the Scotland County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
