Shalley Hired As SCR-I High School Principal For 2002-03

Scotland County R-I High School will be under new leadership next year. On April 10 the SCR-I Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of long-time teacher Dave Shalley to fill the high school principal vacancy created by the resignation of Connie Courtney.

Shalley is a familiar face to most SCR-I boosters as an instructor and most recently as the district's Athletic Director and C.O.E. Coordinator. He also serves as the school's head coach for both football and golf.

A total of six candidates for the position were interviewed by a special search committee consisting of board members, school employees and members of the community. Committee chairman, board member Ellen Aylward informed the full board of the committee's recommendation to hire Shalley.

Following discussion of the process Shalley was offered a one-year contract for the high school principal position for next year by a vote of 6-0. Board member Doug Shalley excused himself from the room for the duration of the discussion and hiring process due to the conflict of interest, since his brother was being considered for the position.
