Rutledge Teenager Ticketed Following High-Speed Chase

A 19-year-old Rutledge man led a Scotland County Sheriff's deputy on a high-speed chase in southern Scotland County before finally being apprehended in Knox County at 10:25 p.m. June 1st.

Clinton L. Zimmerman exceeded the posted speed limit on Route M near Rutledge. He was initially clocked traveling 83 mph in a 55-mph zone by the deputy. Zimmerman failed to pull over for the officer and the pursuit ensued. The chase lasted approximately five miles before ending on Route V in Knox County where Zimmerman was arrested.

Zimmerman was ticketed for speeding, failure to stop for a posted stop sign, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle resulting in a vehicle pursuit. He was released from custody and assigned a June 25 date to appear in the Scotland County Associate Circuit Court.
