Turning Signal Violations Turn Into Drug Arrests

Failure to use turn signals landed two Tri-state area men in hot water with the law on drug charges following two separate traffic stops last week.

Timothy D. Dawson, 49, of Moulton, IA, was stopped by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department at 7:10 p.m. May 31 after failing to signal when turning left. During the traffic stop Dawson was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to Scotland County Sheriff's Office before being released on a $100 cash bond. Dawson was assigned a June 18 date to appear before the Scotland County Associate Circuit Court.

Shawn A. Aldridge, 35, of Memphis faces similar charges following a separate traffic stop at 11:18 p.m. June 1. Aldridge was stopped by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department for failure to signal when turning right. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

Aldridge was released from custody and assigned a June 25 date to appear in the Scotland County Associate Circuit Court.
