Contestants Needed For 2002 S.C. Fair Queen Pageant

The field is still open for any young women in Scotland County who would like to vie for the title of 2002 Scotland County Fair Queen.

The Scotland County Fair Board is returning the popular event to this year's fair, giving one young woman the chance to earn the title and don the crown.

Entries for the contest must be postmarked no later than June 24. All entries should be sent to SC Fair Queen Pageant c/o Michele Drummond at 356 Green Street, Memphis, MO 63555.

Official entry forms are available at Memphis City Hall, Arlys & Co., or the Memphis Democrat.

In addition to the completed forms all entries must include a wallet-size photo of the contestant and contestant information sheet.

Selection of the winner will be based on three scored events. Personal interviews will be held Monday July 1 beginning at 6:00 p.m. This will constitute 40 percent of the final score. Another 40 percent will come from public speaking/talent performances Tuesday, July 2 at 6:00 p.m. The final 20 percent of the score will come from the evening gown event, which follows. Miss Scotland County Fair 2002 will be crowned July 2 following that evening's country music show at the fair.

Miss Scotland County Fair will be a woman between the age of 17 to 22 (as of September 1, 2002). She must be a resident of the state of Missouri for no less than six months and must be unmarried.

The winner in the local contest will be eligible to compete in the Missouri State Fair Queen Contest where scholarship prizes are available. The Scotland County Fair Association will pay the winner's entry fee in the state contest as well as one night's lodging for the contestant and a chaperone.
