Hospital Makes Final Payment On 1995 Expansion

In 1995 the Scotland County Memorial Hospital board of directors completed the final part of their timely plan for the future with the dedication of one of the hospital's largest expansions, an outpatient center and emergency services center adjoining the south side of the hospital complex. Only seven years after it's completion that addition has been paid for in full.

"I remember when the bulldozers started moving dirt, getting ready to poor the concrete foundations, thinking how large an undertaking this expansion was going to be," stated Bud Wilson public relations director for Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

The expansion offered new or expanded services to Scotland County citizens including for the very first time, a two-bay emergency department providing immediate emergency room access complete with over-flow ERs, an expanded and enlarged laboratory, a new cardio-pulmonary department, new cardiac rehab center and expanded physical therapy rehabilitation center.

The '95 addition also included a new outpatient/admissions office and waiting area, additional exam rooms, and a new ambulance base for housing of the three emergency units.

The Scotland County Memorial Hospital board of directors stamped paid-in-full on the '95 expansion debt in June of this year.
