Lancaster Teen Fatally Injured In One-Car Crash

A Schuyler County teenager was killed in a one-car crash on Route U, four miles south of Lancaster at approximately 3:00 p.m. November 17.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jessica Buckallew, 19, of Lancaster, was eastbound on Route U in a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle was traveling downhill when it apparently entered the westbound lane. The driver made an abrupt turn back into the eastbound lane and lost control. The vehicle then traveled off the south side of the roadway where it struck a highway marker and a concrete bridge abutment. Upon impact, the vehicle's right rear spun sideways as it continued downhill, causing the SUV to overturn. As the vehicle overturned the driver was ejected into the creek.

Buckallew was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:10 p.m. by acting coroner, Schuyler County Sheriff Donnie Bruner.
