Police Officers To Serve As Santa's Helpers

This year Santa will be traveling in a police cruiser instead of a sleigh, at least during several of his visits in Memphis. The Memphis Police Department is again serving as Santa's Helpers to insure a Merry Christmas for area families.

The local police department is accepting donations to help purchase gifts for local children in need. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the program can call 465-2612, drop by the police office on the east side of the square or mail your donation to 112 S. Market, Memphis. MO 63555.

Last holiday season the law officers made the holiday season extra special for 40 Scotland County kids delivering special Christmas packages via police car.

This year the department will work in conjunction with the Division of Family Services to gather funds for the project as well as locating families in need.

"If you know of any children that need to be added to the list year to receive a visit from Santa's Helpers, please contact us as soon as possible," stated project director, Ki Reese, of the MPD.
