Donald A. Edelman, 72, of Monmouth, IL, passed away December 20, 2001, at his residence.

He was born August 25, 1929, in Monmouth, IL, the son of Ward A. and Ruth (Gardner) Edelman.

He was raised in Alexis, IL and graduated from Alexis High School.

Don was a Sergeant in the Artillery Unit of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He married Luella J. Reimolds on August 19, 1955, in Hernando, MS.

Don worked for Alvin Williams Trucking in Alexis, IL and later farmed for a number of years in the Alexis and Norwood, IL area.

Don and Lou later moved to Memphis, MO, where he worked for a number of years for Moore's Livestock.

Don and Luella returned to Monmouth, IL in the fall of 2001 due to Don's illness. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Luella of Monmouth, IL; two daughters, Debbie Powers and husband, Steve of Mahomet, IL and Sharon Miles and husband, Duane of Monmouth, IL; one son, Donald Secrist and wife, Donna of Pinkneyville, IL; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Steck and husband, Walter of Wagaga, IL, and one niece and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services were held December 22, 2001, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL with Rev. James Epperson officiating. Interment was in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Alateral Sclerosis.
