MARJORIE "LUCILLE" (PITZER) PENNOCK
(7/23/1924 - 1/16/2002)



Marjorie "Lucille" Pennock, 77, of Kirksville, MO, passed away January 16, 2002, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.

The daughter of Paul E. and Laura E. (Franklin) Pitzer, she was born July 23, 1924, in Memphis, MO.

On December 18, 1949, in Cody, WY, she was united in marriage to Russell C. Pennock, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1978.

Her parents, one sister, Mary Sturdevant, and one brother, John Pitzer, also preceded Lucille in death.

Lucille is survived by one son, John R. Pennock and wife, Sandy of Gillette, WY; two daughters, Janice "Jan" Martinson and Jeri Parker and husband, Jim, all of Kirksville, MO; seven grandchildren, Rick Parker, Becky (Martinson) Shirk, Sam Martinson, Russell Sandoral, Hidi Henderson, Johnathan Sorelle, and Christina Sorelle; two great-granddaughters, Beth and Sami Shirk; two nieces, Patty Pennock of Saratoga, WY and Jo Conaway of Big Spring, TX; several close cousins and a brother-in-law, Gene Sturdevant of Midland, TX.

Lucille was raised near Memphis, MO, where she received her education, graduating from the Scotland County High School. She then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Keokuk, IA, where she received a degree in nursing in 1945. In 1946 she moved to Cody, WY, where she worked as a registered nurse. In 1952 she and her husband, Russell moved to Worland, WY, and Lucille was employed at Washakie Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse for 23 years until retiring in 1986. In 1995, Lucille moved to Kirksville, MO to be close to her family.

Lucille was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, flowers, reading, playing cards and taking care of her dogs.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Worland, WY.

Funeral services were held January 19, 2002, in the chapel of the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO, with Chaplain Dennis Smith officiating. Dianthe Cable, organist and Marvin McClanahan, soloist provided music selections. Cremation will follow the services with interment of her cremains being held in the Spring in Worland, WY. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lucille Pennock may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Worland, WY. Travis-Noe Funeral Home, Kirksville, MO was in charge of services.
