ALMA ELIZABETH DANNENHAUER
(2/28/1914 - 1/26/2002)



Alma Elizabeth Dannenhauer, 87, of Memphis, MO, died January 26, 2002, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

She was born the daughter of Roy and Nina (Berterman) McNeely on February 28, 1914, in Gorin, MO.

She attended the Round Grove Elementary School, near Gorin, MO.

On February 24, 1935, she married Leland Dannenhauer in Arbela, MO, by Rev. McCloud. They were married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2000.

Alma was a life-long resident of Scotland County, MO and a member of the Arbela Baptist Church for approximately 70 years, serving as treasurer for 35 years. For many years, she also taught Sunday School and Bible School. She served as the pianist for the last few years. Her passion was being the camp director at Camp Leeper, near Luray, MO. She loved being with young people and visiting with the Missionaries.

Alma is a former member of the Hazel Hill Club. She lived in this area all her life.

She performed in a renowned quartet along with Mrs. Miles Epperson, Mrs. Jack Montgomery, and Mrs. Charles Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Harry Lee, and a grandson, Donnie.

She is survived by a daughter, Twila and her husband, Richard Stevenson of Arbela, MO; two grandchildren, Judy Lynn and husband, Randy Kennedy of Mt. Sterling, IA, and Charles Allan and wife, Geri Stevenson of Overland, MO; four great-grandchildren, Richard and wife, Salli Bowen of Knox City, MO, Cpl. Tim Bowen of Ft. Campbell, KY, and Elaina and Landon Stevenson of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a great-great-grandson, Joseph Michael Bowen; four step-grandchildren, Tavia and Ransley Kennedy, Johnny Glascow and Kevin Carmack; and one step-great-great-grandson, McKay Glascow; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held January 29, 2002, at the Gerth Funeral Home in Memphis, MO with Rev. Robert Moseley officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, near Arbela, MO. Musicians were pianist Arleta Dye and soloist Sheila Moseley. Serving as pallbearers were Charles Stevenson, Chris Montgomery, Richard Bowen, Tim Bowen, Randy Kennedy, and Ransley Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers were Don Day, Gene Piper, Francis Ballew, Noah Clatt and Okie Boyer. Memorials are suggested to the Arbela Baptist Church or the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Gerth Funeral Service of Memphis, MO was in charge of the arrangements.
