HOLLIS DALE MEEKS
(3/5/1932 - 2/17/2002)



Hollis Dale Meeks, 69, of Memphis, MO, died at the home of his daughter, February 17, 2002.

He was born March 5, 1932, in rural Scotland County, MO to Zerita Faye Wright and Perry Riley Meeks.

He was a graduate of Memphis High School, Memphis, MO, with the class of 1951.

Hollis served in the U.S. Army entering January 28, 1953 in St. Louis, MO and was discharged on November 30, 1954 at Ft. Carson, CO.

He was united in marriage April 6, 1958, to Donna Bradley at the Methodist Parsonage in Memphis, MO.

As a young man Hollis was engaged in farming. He was employed with Rood Phosphate for 26 years. He and his wife Donna were presently managers of the SunRise Motel in Memphis, MO. Hollis was a member of the First Christian Church in Memphis, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Meeks of Memphis, MO; one son, Doug R. Meeks and wife, Jan of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Cathy Dale Campbell and husband, Paul of Memphis, MO, and Holly G. Harris and husband, Chris of Memphis, MO; Also surviving are his mother, Zerita Faye Meeks of Memphis; MO; one brother, Perry Meeks of Carlsbad, CO; three sisters, Jewel Skelton of Milton, IA, Nancy Barnes of Edina, MO, and Virginia Meeks of Memphis, MO; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Lucas Dale Campbell.

The body was cremated. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Memphis, MO with Rev. Reese Blaine officiating. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Wallace W. Gillespie V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis, MO. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery. Joan Goosey will serve as organist. Elaine Forrester and Angela Westhoff will be vocalists. Honorary bearers will be Ron Gardner, Rex Peterson, Dale Wayne Musgrove, Mike Becraft, Tom Deberry, Jan Summers, Robin Sappington, Deanna and Debbie Rood. Memorials may be given to Hospice 2000.
