ERMA J. CHAMPION

Erma J. Champion, 95, of Macomb, IL, died March 8, 2002, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb, IL.

She was born March 7, 1907, in McDonough County, IL, the daughter of J. Sollie and Lennie Gordon Fugate.

She married Orlo K. Champion, January 29, 1927, in Macomb, IL, and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1972.

She is survived by three daughters, Margie L. (deceased husband, Bill) Byers of Roseville, IL, Lennie J. (husband, Vivian) Doscher of Memphis, MO, Nancy A. (deceased husband, Charles) Fengel of Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grand-children; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Champion graduated from Good Hope Community High School and lived her entire life in McDonough County, IL, except for a brief time when she lived in Warren County. She was a farm wife, who enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren and visiting with her family and friends. She was a member of the Home Extension for more than 40 years.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb, IL, with burial at Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Macomb, IL. Memorials have been suggested to The Elms Nursing Home activity fund at The Elms, Macomb IL.
