RAYMOND J. "RAY" FOUNTAIN

Raymond J. "Ray" Fountain, 88, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Kahoka, MO, died in his sleep March 13, 2002, at his home.

He was born January 22, 1914, in Canton, MO, the son of Carl Andrew and Estella Elizabeth Young Fountain.

He married Dorothy M. Fry on November 9, 1940, in Canton, MO.

Ray was a life-long resident of Missouri. He retired after 35 years of involvement in the Public School system serving as a teacher and administrator. Following his retirement he worked for the State of Missouri for 15 years and then served as sexton of the Columbia Cemetery for another 15 years.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy of Columbia, MO; three children, Sharon E. McRobert of Memphis, MO, Carl A. Fountain of Boonville, MO and Vernie R. Fountain of Springfield, MO; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 18, 2002 at the Broadway Christian Church in Columbia, MO. A second funeral service was held March 20, 2002, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Reverend Ernest Deatrick officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka City Cemetery.
