CLELLA MARIE GARRETT

Clella Marie Garrett, 83, died April 2, 2002, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

She was born October 4, 1918, in Scotland County, MO, to Blanche Shook and Rolla Spees.

She attended grade school at the Spees School in Scotland County.

In 1935 she married Boyd Wheeler.

She spent nine years in California, where she ran a cleaning business. She returned to Scotland County and opened a home in Memphis to care for the elderly. Later to lighten her work load she cared for patients in their homes. When she retired she moved to Kirksville, MO and then later returned to Memphis. She enjoyed reading the Bible, caring for animals and crocheting. When she no longer was able to live alone she entered the Scotland County Care Center on August 10, 1998.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Eldred Trowbridge of Oklahoma City, OK and Marelia Ann Lowe of Kirksville, MO; two sisters, Bernice Lister of Bloomfield, IA and Ruby Purvis of Memphis, MO; a sister-in-law, June Spees of Downing, MO; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her grandparents, who helped raise her; one son, Lloyd Ray Wheeler; one brother, Vern Spees; and one sister, Dorothy Followell.

Funeral services were held April 4, 2002 with Brother Jack Sumption officiating. Burial followed in the Barker Cemetery in rural Scotland County, MO. Casketbearers were Leon, Joe, Buddy and John Wheeler, Glen Lister and Rev. Ben Wheeler. Memorials may be made to the Scotland County Care Center. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
