ARDYTH L. OWEN
(11/11/1916 - 6/26/2002)



Ardyth Louise Owen, 85, formerly of Antioch, MO, passed away June 26, 2002, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO, surrounded by her family.

She was born November 11, 1916, in rural Clark County, MO, a daughter of Vard and Anna Lee Chewning Webster.

She married Wilbur C. Owen on September 15, 1935 at her parents' home. He preceded her in death October 16, 1969.

Ardyth had been a life-long resident of Clark County, MO. She was a 1934 graduate of Kahoka High School, where she was active in sports. She and Wilbur farmed and in 1937 moved to Antioch, where they ran the Antioch Store for many years. She was an avid gardener and loved to share her garden bounty with whoever she met that needed some fresh produce. She took great pride in her flowers and yard and loved watching birds and mowing. She loved being able to cook for family and friends at anytime, and was a wonderful pie baker. She also loved being with her family and caring for her pets.

Ardyth had been secretary for the Antioch Rural School for many years and volunteered at the Clark County Nursing Home and the Clark County Nutrition Site for many years. She was an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church and in 1957 transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church of Kahoka, MO, where she was also very active until her health failed. She also enjoyed attending Clark County R-I basketball games whenever possible.

Survivors include one son, Noel Keith Owen and his wife, Vel of LaBelle, MO; one daughter, Sandra Kay Ebeling and her husband, Duane of rural Wyaconda, MO; four grandchildren, Marina Young and her husband, Cary of Rock Island, IL, Mark Owen and his wife, Jennifer of LaBelle, MO, Maurice Owen and his wife, Lisa of Owensboro, KY, and Kayla Ebeling of Wyaconda, MO; three step-grandchildren, Curtis Ebeling of Memphis, MO, Chad Ebeling and his wife, Angela of New London, IA, and Cinda Barrett and her husband, Troy of Memphis, MO; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Owen of Moline, IL, Mitchell Owen of Lewistown, MO, Alisha and Cory Young of Rock Island, IL, and Erica and Drew Owen of Owensboro, KY; eight step-great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Josh, Emily, Andrew, and Zach Ebeling, and Mark, Michael, and Rachel Barrett. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive along with a host of friends and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Hardy, Woodrow, Russell, Martin and Gerald Webster; and three sisters, Pansy Snider, Ethel Mayfield, and Opal Webster in infancy.

Funeral services were held June 30, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Shawn McAfee and Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Music was provided by organist, Iris Phillips, and soloist, David Otte. The congregation also sang. Honorary pallbearers were Hillis Lipper, Gary Hunziker, Allen Cameron, Miles Cameron, East Burke, Brian Alderton, Larry Shaffer, Rodney Gares, Eston Boudreau, Clifford Gares, and Vernon Schmid. Pallbearers were Karl Hamner, Stanley Webster, Jerry Eads, Gary Cameron, Larry Ross, and Ranny Harris. Burial was in Kahoka Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the Clark County Nursing Home Activity Fund. Arrange-ments were handled by Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka, MO.
