ROY L. STOUT
(4/11/1931 - 8/7/2002)



Roy L. Stout, 71, of Hannibal, MO, died August 7, 2002, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO.

He was born April 11, 1931 at Palmyra, MO to Lee and Ada Carter Stout.

He married May Belle Johnson, June 21, 1953. She preceded him in death June 19, 1997. He married Ruth Knueppel Hart, October 21, 2000, and she survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Stacy Raith and her husband, Peter of Shawnee, KS; three sons, Steven Stout and his wife, Terri of Ballwin, MO, Phillip Stout and his wife, Carol of Webster Groves, MO and Sampson Tatham of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren, Laney Stout and Nathan Stout of St. Louis, MO, Scott Stout and Tim Stout of Webster Groves and A.J. Raith and Barclay Raith of Shawnee, KS; a sister, Dorothy Daughtery of St. Charles, MO, and one niece, Elizabeth Myers and her husband, Dennis of Marietta, GA. Also surviving one great-niece, Meagan Myers and great-nephew, Clifton Myers of Marietta, who were considered as grandchildren by the Stout family. Surviving also is Ruth's family, Judy Cochran and her husband, Don of Apple Valley, MN, and Janet Carr and her husband, Tim of Bettendorf, IA, and grandchildren, Lucy and Paul Cochran of Apple Valley, MN, Courtney Carr and Michael Carr of Bettendorf, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clifton Stout.

Mr. Stout was retired from the Sales Department at Tom Boland Ford in Hannibal, MO. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church and a member of the Church Choir. He was a charter member of the Mark Twain Mens Chorale, member of Twain Towners Barbershop Quartet, International Mark Twain Chorale and a member of the board of directors of Great River Jazz Society. He was an Eagle Scout and had been active in Scouting for many years. He was a 1949 graduate of Palmyra High School and attended Central Methodist College at Fayette, MO. Mr. Stout enjoyed singing, fishing, all sports, and most important, his camp at Bay de Charles.

Memorials may be made to the Roy L. Stout Music Memorial.

Funeral services were held August 12, 2002, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Paul Bond officiated. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO. Pallbearers were Dr. Harlo Donelson, Harold Becker, Donald Smith, Ralph Stuhlman, Charles Bindmann, and George Lewenczuk, Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Phillip Foreman, Dale Bradshaw, Danny Griffen and G.W. Foreman.
