LEANNA JO PENCE GARRETT
(6/21/1942 - 8/29/2002)



Leanna Jo Pence Garrett, 60, was born June 21, 1942, near Rutledge, MO, the daughter of Lee and Nova Matlock Pence. She departed this life on August 29, 2002, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, MO.

On April 2, 1961, at Richland, she was united in marriage to Robert Garrett and to this union two children were born.

Leanna was a graduate of Scotland County R-1 Schools in 1960. She was part owner and operator of the MFA Service Station in Memphis, MO, for 16 years and later worked at Gas & More in Memphis, MO, as a clerk. She was a member of the Richland Baptist Church near Hitt, MO.

Survivors are a daughter, Bonita Garrett and partner, Julie Yindra of Greensboro, NC; son, Leon and wife, Tori of Kearney, MO; two grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah Garrett; a brother, Don Pence and wife, Mildred of Memphis, MO; and special friend and companion, Max Kapfer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dalee Droege and Jean Armstrong.

The family has suggested memorials to Scotland County Relay For Life.

Memorial services were held September 1, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. at the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO, with Pastor James L. Campbell officiating. The body was cremated. Payne Funeral Chapel of Memphis, MO, was in charge of arrangements.
