Elsie Lucille Lewis, 87, of Memphis, MO, died September 11, 2002, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

Lucille was born July 5, 1915, in Gorin, MO, the youngest daughter of J. Grant and Daisy Belle Chambers Piles.

Lucille lived in the Gorin area and was a graduate of Gorin High School.

She married Harley Seth Lewis, June 5, 1938, in Fort Madison, IA, and to this union one son was born. Her husband preceded her in death February 28, 1996.

Following her marriage the Lewises lived in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. They retired in the late 60's and lived in McAllen, TX, until moving to Memphis, MO in May of 1995.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Twyla Piles Henry.

She is survived by her son, Harold W. Lewis and his wife, Judy of Orland Park, IL; two grandsons, Donald Lewis of Palm Springs, CA, and Richard Lewis of Alton, IL; an aged aunt, Helen Chambers of Memphis, MO; numerous cousins and friends.

The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Care Center or the Gorin Christian Church.

Graveside services were held September 14, 2002, at the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO with the Rev. Charles Hammack offici-ating. Body bearers were Harold Lewis, Ivan Woods, Harley Dauma, Weldon Tague, Floyd Tague, and Nelson Golbricht. The Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
