Louis E. (Tom) Potter, son of Harry E. and Bessie (Lewis) Potter, was born September 25, 1929, in Downing, MO, and passed away September 18, 2002, in the Arms of his family in Hospice 2000, Kirksville, MO.

On June 15, 1951, he married Letha Arlene Donaldson, and to this union two children were born, Sharon Kay Potter, who died in infancy and Cheryl L. Ebert of Downing, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene, and daughter, Cheri, three grandchildren, Mike Ebert and wife, Tenia, Brandi Dalton and husband, Quinton, and Julie Ebert, all of Downing, MO; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Tom served in the United States Marine Corp. from January 24, 1952 to January 23, 1954 at El Toro Base at Santa Anna, CA. After his discharge he was employed by the Bank of Downing until his retirement in April of 1996.

Memorial services were held September 20, 2002, at the Norman Funeral Chapel in Downing, MO. Harold Marshall, pastor of the Community Christian Church officiated. Pallbearers were Dan Ebert, Curtis Schmitter, Fred Moore, J.L. Newland, Jerry Duncan, and Donnie Middleton. Interment was in the Downing City Cemetery.
