Velma Englis Wilson, 96, of Memphis, MO, died October 22, 2002, in the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Velma was born November 27, 1905, in Scotland County, MO, the daughter of Jess W. and Morilla K. (Gundy) Moore.

She married Bryon Wilson. They made their home in Memphis, MO.

She taught school for three years, worked as a telephone operator for 26 years until she retired. Then she worked at Farmers Mutual Insurance for Bob Shanes.

Velma was a member of the First Christian Church of Memphis, MO, Kahoka Chapter #40, Order of the Eastern Star, Kahoka, MO, and she had received her 50-year pin and also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by two nephews, Leonard Moore and wife, Julia of Mission, KS, and Robert Moore and wife, Ruth of Keokuk, IA, and several great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bryon on November 19, 1962; one sister, Venda Donaldson; three brothers, Ross Moore, Leslie T. Moore and Leo Moore; two sisters-in-law and two nephews, M.E. Moore and Leslie Jr. Moore.

She will be missed by all family and friends.

The family has suggested memorials to the First Christian Church or the Scotland County Care Center.

Eastern Star Services were held October 24, 2002 at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO by Kahoka Chapter #40, Order of the Eastern Star of Kahoka, MO.

Funeral services were held October 25, 2002, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with the Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Body bearers were Tony Moore, Ross Moore, Ryan Moore, Ted Gundy, Rick Steep, and Dennis Gray. Honorary bearer was Robert Shanes. Interment will be in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO.
