MAURICE JOHN "TOM" DELANEY
(1/28/1914 - 11/10/2002)



Maurice John "Tom" Delaney, 88, of Baring, MO, passed away November 10, 2002, at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO.

Tom was born on January 28, 1914, the son of Joseph Francis and Mary Elizabeth Fink Delaney.

He was raised in the Baring community graduating from the Baring High School in the class of 1931. After high school, during the Depression, Tom found work at a service station in Moline, IL, for three years before returning to Baring, MO.

On November 24, 1943, in Baring, MO, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Tom married Verlee J. Dunn and she survives of the home.

After their marriage they moved to the farm southwest of Baring, where they have lived 55 years. Tom enjoyed farming and loved his wife and family, and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tom was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, past president of the St. Aloysius Cemetery Board, served on the Baring School Board for many years, past president of the Knox County Farm Bureau, Knox County 4-H, Missouri Cattlemen's Association, Loyal Order of the Moose in Kirksville, MO, and the Baring Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Verlee Delaney of Baring, MO; two daughters, Barbara and her husband, Danny Primm of Macon, MO, and Shari and her husband, Bill Kist of Columbia, MO; a sister, Eileen and her husband, Bert Wiggenjost of West Point, IA; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Fessler of Edina, MO and Jack Helling of Ft. Madison, IA; a sister-in-law, Helen Delaney of Kirksville, MO; six grandchildren, Andy and his wife, Melissa Primm, Chad and his wife, Deana Primm, all of Macon, MO, Steve Primm of Ennis, MT, Beverly and her husband, Rob Rollings of Sedalia, MO, Greg and his wife, Amanda Primm of Kansas City, MO and Matt Kist of Columbia, MO; six great-grandchildren, Drew, Jacob and Alex Primm and Emma, Sadie and Jude Rollings; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Beverly Kay Delaney on January 31, 1955; five brothers, William Delaney, Claude Delaney, Virgil Delaney, Raymond Delaney and Paul Delaney in infancy; seven sisters, Marie Ludden, Francis Delaney, Loretta Timmermeyer, Edna Witherow, Esther Crawford Fessler, Marjorie Helling and Martha Delaney in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held November 13, 2002, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, MO. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery at Baring, MO. Father Bill Peckman officiated and music was provided by Katie and Maggie Delaney, and Brent Karhoff. Pallbearers were Andy Primm, Steve Primm, Rob Rollings, Chad Primm, Greg Primm, Matt Kist and Drew Primm. Tom's Helpers were Alan Fox, Albert Horst, Elvin Martin, Gary Snelling, Derrell Riekeberg, Ricky Riekeberg, Larry Primm, Gerald Snelling, and Tom Marra. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom Delaney may be made to the St. Aloysius Cemetery or the Parkinson's Foundation. Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home of Edina, MO was in charge of arrangements.
