Julia Alyce (Royen) Haden, 78, of south Kansas City, MO, passed away on December 14, 2002, at Bishop Spencer Place.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, December 18, 2002, at St. Peter Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Peter Church or to Bishop Spencer Place.

Mrs. Haden was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Walter J. and Constance L. (Poole) Royen. She met Turner Roy Haden while she was a volunteer and he was a patient at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. They married in 1949, and moved to Missouri, living in Memphis, MO before eventually relocating to the Kansas City area in 1960.

She was involved in numerous parent activities at St. Peter School, Rockhurst High School and St. Teresa Academy, and was a member of the Notre Dame Club of Kansas City. She enjoyed a long-time interest in tole painting and decorating. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Walter Jay Royen.

She is survived by her husband, her son Jay D. and wife Ellen, son Jonathan R. and wife Barbara, all of Kansas City, MO; her daughter Constance A. Crumpton and husband Roger of Fulton, MO; and grandchildren, Beth, Annie, Tracy and Rob Haden, Maggie, Doug and Becky Haden, and Haden and Shannon Crumpton.

Arrangements were handled by Muehlebach Funeral Home.
