Elizabeth "Betty" Shelley, 71, of Memphis, MO, died December 18, 2002, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

She was born July 30, 1931, at Selma, IA, to Robert and Belle Bokehoff Miller.

She grew up in the Milton, IA area and attended school in Milton, IA, completing the 10th grade.

She was married to Forrest "Pee Wee" Shelley on May 25, 1946, in Memphis, MO.

She lived in the Memphis area since her marriage. She was a homemaker and former restaurant owner. She worked with the Green Thumb program for the past two years. Betty enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including flower gardening, walking, crocheting, playing Bingo and serving as a volunteer at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

Survivors include her children, Danny Shelley and wife, Patricia of Fort Worth, TX, Wanda Shannan and husband, Donald, and Steven Shelley and wife, Ruby, all of Memphis, MO, Patricia Durst and husband, Ronald of Ottumwa, IA, Perry Shelley of Shelbina, MO and Alan Shelley of Ottumwa, IA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta Holdefer of Whittier, CA and LaVon Darnell of Bloomington, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers-in-law.

A graveside memorial service was held December 21, 2002, at the Richland Cemetery in Hitt, MO. David Barton officiated. Memorials may be made to the Richland Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home of Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
