Deer Hunters Get 2nd Chance To Fill Unused Tags Jan. 5-8

If you did not fill all of those tags during the fall firearms deer season you will get a second chance. The special anterless only deer season will run January 5 through 8.

Last year hunters bagged more than 14,000 deer during the special four-day season. That is well above the roughly 7,000 deer taken during the first two-day extended January hunt back in 1998. The numbers increased to more than 8,000 the following year when the January hunt was extended to four days.

During the January Extension, any unfilled Any-Deer or Bonus Deer permits issued for any unit is valid in any unit that is open during the January Extension (Units 1 thru 17, 20, 22, 23, 24, 58, and 59). Remember, the January Extension is for antlerless deer only.
