Palmyra Topples Tigers In Second Round Of Tourney

Seniors Kirk Stott and Robbie Miller helped Scotland County get off to a good start in the Tigers second round contest at the Highland Tournament against Palmyra. The team finished with a big run, scoring 23 points in the final period. Unfortunately it was the two periods in the middle that allowed the Panthers to pick up the 65-51 victory as they outscored SCR-I 29-16 in the crucial second and third quarters.

Stott had eight points and Miller added four as Scotland County started strong. Palmyra rallied late to pull ahead 13-12 to close the first quarter. The Tigers scored 11 points in the second period, including five from Aaron Dale, but Palmyra went ahead 32-23 at the intermission.

The third quarter was even worse for the Tigers as Palmyra went on a 20-5 run to put the game out of reach at 52-28.

The Tigers outscored Palmyra 23-13 in the final period which saw every Tiger make it into the score book. It was too little too late as Palmyra held on for the 65-51 win.

Aarron Holt led the Tigers with 13 points. Jake Fogle, playing in the place of injured Chase Moore, had nine points. Stott finished with eight and Dale added five. Miller and Jason Glass each had four points while Tim Buford, Brad Holt, Michael Lodewegen and Logan Bogatzke all finished with two points.
