SCR-I Campus Bowl Teams Open Season With Wins

The Scotland County Campus Bowl teams got the 2002 season off on the right foot with a clean sweep at Canton on February 11.

In the junior high contest SCR-I opened up a 115-60 advantage in the first half en route to a 205-135 victory.

Julie Triplett topped the scoring by answering seven toss-up questions. Loren Billington added four and Jon Keller finished with three.

The varsity contest was a bit closer with the Tigers holding on for a 225-180 victory.

SCR-I looked poised to blow the game open on several occasions building 40 and 50 point leads only to see Canton rally to come within 20 points on several occasions.

The final scare came with just five questions left in the game when the score was trimmed to just 10 points at 190-180. The Tigers answered the challenge, finishing the game on a 35-0 run to seal the victory.

John Grogan led the team to victory with 70 points. Jason Findling and Michael Lodewegen each added thirty points with Ryan Hinds and Jennifer Crawford rounding out the scoring with 20 points each.
