Brookfield Dashes Lady Tigers Hopes Of Second Place Finish

Instead of all-or-nothing it seemed like it was three-points-or-nothing for the Scotland County Lady Tigers as they saw their hopes of a second place conference finish dashed by a 50-38 defeat by Brookfield February 22nd.

SCR-I opened up with the bombs away offense as Meagan Fromm hit a pair of triples. Amy Blomme added the other long ball that left SCR-I trailing 12-9 after eight minutes of play.

Brookfield extended the lead to 22-15 at halftime as Scotland County only scored six points in the second quarter, including one three pointer.

Jessie Cotton kept up the theme for the night when she hit a three pointer from the wing. Fromm added four points the conventional way but that was all the scoring for SCR-I. Brookfield was one better in the quarter, extending the margin to eight points at 30-22.

Brookfield put the game away in the fourth quarter at the free throw line. The visiting team shot an amazing 22 free throws in the final eight minutes, sinking 16 from the charity stripe to finalize the 50-38 win.

Blomme, Fromm and Katie Kittle all hit three pointers down the stretch but it was not enough for the Lady Tigers.

Fromm finished with 19 points to pace the SCR-I offense. Blomme hit double digits with 10 points while Cotton and Kittle each added three.

The loss ended the Lady Tigers five-game winning streak and sent the team's conference mark to 4-3 on the year.
