Tigers Take Early Exit From Campus Bowl Tournament

The Monroe City Tournament was not kind to the Scotland County campus bowl team which missed a tourney cut for the first time in recent memory.

After overwhelming Mark Twain in the opening round of the event, SCR-I dropped back-to-back games to Clark County and Louisiana to be eliminated from the event.

The Tigers started off well with a 375-55 victory over Mark Twain. Michael Lodewegen had 90 points and Ryan Hinds had 80 points to lead the onslaught. Jennifer Crawford finished with 50 points and John Grogan added 40 to give the team a balanced scoring attack.

In game two, SCR-I fell behind Clark County early and never could recover. The team trailed 70-20 after the first period. A couple rallies brought the team with 20 points midway through the first half but the Indians had all the answers and pulled ahead 180-90 at the break.

The Tigers never pulled within less than 60 points of the lead as Clark County went on to the 325-215 victory. Hinds finished with 60 points to top SCR-I while Grogan finished with 40.

Game three appeared to have the Tigers headed into the semi-finals as SCR-I led nearly the entire game. Scotland County took a 20-10 lead after question #4 in the first period. The team maintained the advantage until just four questions remained in the contest. Louisiana scored the final 55 points of the game to erase a 195-165 deficit and turn it into a 220-195 victory.

Hinds led SCR-I with 80 points. Lodewegen finished with 30 points in the losing cause.
