JV Girls Finish Hoops Season With 3-3 Run

The Scotland County junior varsity girls basketball team finished the season with a 3-3 run that included winning the consolation trophy at the Knox County freshman/sophomore tourney.

The Lady Tigers started the set with a 34-31 victory over Fox Valley back on January 21. Katie Kittle had 11 points and Jennifer Crawford added 10 points to lead the team to the win. Valerie Crawford pitched in with seven points while Megan Walker added six.

The host team sent the SCR-I squad to the loser side of the bracket in the opener of the Knox County Tournament with a 53-33 defeat. Walker had nine points to lead SCR-I.

Two nights later SCR-I traveled to North Shelby where the Raiders were victorious in overtime 40-38. Kittle had a season-high 17 points in the loss. Ashley Ellison and Walker each added six.

SCR-I returned to Edina February 9 to beat Highland 27-25 despite going 0-10 from the free throw line in the fourth period. Walker, Ellison and Kayla Ebeling each had five points.

Canton handed the team one of its worst defeats of the season 50-27 on February 16. Rebecca Consbrock was the leading scorer with six points for SCR-I.

The Lady Tigers wrapped up the year on a high note with a 34-33 win over Knox County. Valerie Crawford had nine points to lead the way. Consbrock contributed seven points in the winning effort and Ellison and Brandi Mallet each had six.
