Three Scotland County R-I students will advance to the state History Day Contest after top finishes at the Region II History Day contest held March 1 at Hannibal LaGrange College.

Sisters Hannah and Emily Kiddoo took charge of the individual performance category. Hannah, the younger sister, won first place in the junior division (6th - 8th grade), while Emily took top honors in the category in the senior division (9th - 12th grade). Julie Triplett won third place in the junior division individual performance category.

Approximately 110 northeast Missouri students in grades six through 12 competed.

The theme for this year's event was "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History. Entries were judged on the basis of historical quality, relation to theme, clarity of presentation, and compliance with History Day rules.

The top three winners in each category advance to the state competition at the University of Missouri on April 13.
